Vehicle Info

Caveat emptor.

CAR ALERT:  Watch the dimensions when you go car shopping.

Any vehicle you plan to park in Seasons' parking areas must meet  SOMSCOA's Rules & Regulations. As an owner of a unit, you are entitled to a parking spot (and-a-half) at Seasons, but that is part of the common area and use can be and is restricted by Rules & Regulations of the Condominium Association. Obviously, you cannot park a limo there. RV's are out, as are trailers of all sorts. And, guess what? The Hummer fails, due to its overly wide body.

Now Ford is producing a car to out-do its own Expedition.  Unfortunately, though an Expedition will fit within our current vehicle Rules & Regulations, its new sibling, called the Excursion,  will not.

The latest vehicle on the production lines which cannot park at Seasons is Ford's new SUV, the Excursion,  which will not fit in our regular parking areas.  Check SOMSCOA's Rules & RegulationsAccording to Car and Driver's May '99 issue, Ford's new Excursion is 7.2 inches longer, 3.3 inches wider and at least 4.3 inches higher than a  Suburban. And that is the lower of the two models now in production.

Several years ago the Board of Directors tackled the issue of vehicle size as these popular all-terrain vehicles began growing and GROWING and GROWING.   The Excursion's fine for an excursion but not for parking and spending the weekend at Seasons.

The Board welcomes comments, pro and con, about the Rules and Regulations, including Rule 16, the current vehicle-size regulation.  Since Rules and Regulations are a Board function, under the Bylaws of the COA, any changes would be made by the Board after a discussion at its meetings, but owner input is always invited.
